PayPal -> Anedot

PayPal is better with Anedot.

Did you know that every Anedot account comes with PayPal built-in? Once you get migrated to Anedot, your donors will be able to choose PayPal as one of the many payment options within Anedot.

To migrate recurring donations from Paypal to Anedot, you will need to contact your donors and provide them with steps on how to cancel their commitment on PayPal and create a new one on Anedot.

We suggest that you keep your PayPal account as a legacy account and use Anedot to add new donors moving forward. Neither Anedot nor PayPal charges monthly fees, so rest assured that it will not cost you more money. You can always import the data into Anedot to keep it all in one place.

If you would like to give your donors the option to move their donations over to Anedot, you can have them follow these steps to cancel their existing commitment:

  1. Log in to your PayPal account.

  2. Click Settings near the top of the page.

  3. Click Payments.

  4. Click Manage pre-approved payments.

  5. Click Cancel or Cancel automatic billing and follow the instructions.

Once donors have canceled their recurring PayPal commitment (donation), you should provide them with your new Anedot donation link where they can choose their donation amount, frequency, and payment method to complete their new commitment. If donors create a DonorID, they can see their recurring commitments and make changes to them in the future.
