Need to update your donation payment method with Anedot? Learn how to change your card details via email or DonorID, troubleshoot issues, and report lost or expired cards.

How to Update Your Payment Method

Whether your card expired, was lost, or you simply want to switch payment options, Anedot makes it easy to update your payment method in a few simple steps.


Option 1: Update via Expiration Email

If your credit card is nearing expiration, you’ll receive an email from us about one month in advance.

  1. Open the email and click the Update Payment Method button.

  2. You’ll be directed to a secure page to enter your new payment details.

  3. Submit your update by clicking Update Payment Method.


Option 2: Update Through Your DonorID Account

You can manage your payment methods directly from your DonorID:

If you see an “Invalid Email” error during signup, you likely already have an account. Please reset your password to log in.

Steps to update your payment method:

  1. Go to the Donor Profile tab in your dashboard.

  2. Click Payment Methods.

  3. Select + Add Payment Method, enter your new info, and click Save.

  4. Navigate to the Commitments tab.

  5. Find your active commitment and click Actions > Edit.

  6. Scroll to the bottom, select your new payment method, and click Save.

Your recurring donation will now use your updated payment method.

You cannot delete an old payment method until a new one is connected to your active commitment.

Option 3: Update via DonorSupport.com

You can manage your payment methods and other information directly from DonorSupport.com:

  1. Go to DonorSupport.com.
  2. Enter the same Email Address used for your recurring donation.
  3. You will receive an email titled: Anedot: Commitment Update Links
  4. Click Edit Commitment Information.
  5. Check the I want to change the payment method for my commitment box and add your new Payment Method.
  6. Click Update Commitment.

Your billing address must match the one registered with your bank or card company for the new payment method.
You may receive two emails. The Anedot: Donation Update Tokens email contains a link to update information for any previous individual donations. 

For security, Anedot staff cannot update payment methods. All updates must be completed by the donor.

You may also contact the organization you support for further assistance. 


Credit Card Auto-Updater

Our system regularly checks with card networks (Visa, Mastercard, etc.) to auto-update expiration dates or replacement card numbers.
If auto-updating fails, you’ll receive an Update Payment Method email notification.


Reporting a Lost or Stolen Card

If your card was lost or compromised:

  1. Contact your credit card company immediately to report it.

  2. Then, notify our support team at DonorSupport.com.
    We’ll ensure that no unauthorized donations are processed.
