Supported Payment Methods on Anedot
Anedot offers a wide range of secure and convenient payment methods, making it easy for your supporters to give using the option that works best for them. Whether donating by card, bank draft, digital wallet, or cryptocurrency, all methods are streamlined for a smooth giving experience.
Available Payment Methods:

Credit and Debit Cards
Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express -
ACH (Bank Draft)
Direct payments from a donor's checking or savings account -
Apple Pay
Available on Safari browsers with Apple devices -
Google Pay
Available on compatible web browsers and Android devices -
PayPal
Donors can pay via PayPal account or linked credit/debit card -
Bitcoin
Available upon request via OpenNode integration
Each method is designed to be secure, fast, and easy to use, with most options enabled by default. Detailed information about setup, eligibility, and troubleshooting for each method is provided in the sections below.
Apple Pay
Apple Pay is available to all Anedot customers—no setup required! It works on Apple devices using a Safari web browser and appears automatically on donation forms when eligible.
Requirements for Donors:

Must use an Apple device (iPhone, iPad, iMac, MacBook)

Must use the Safari browser

Apple Pay must be enabled on the device
Notes:

We handle all technical details (SDK, encryption, security policies).

Apple Pay does not work in embedded forms (iFrame) due to Apple’s security restrictions. Supporters will be redirected to a hosted page to complete their purchase.
Troubleshooting:
If a donor encounters errors with Apple Pay, their Apple Pay account may be missing required information. The following fields must be set:

Full Name

Phone

Address
Disable Apple Pay:
To disable Apple Pay, go to the Action Page Builder under Finance > Payments.
Google Pay
Google Pay is also enabled by default for all Anedot customers and appears automatically on donation forms for eligible supporters.
Requirements for Donors:

Must use a compatible Android or web browser

Must use a Google account
-
Must not be using an embedded form (standalone hosted forms only)

Just like Apple Pay, we take care of all technical aspects so you can focus on fundraising.

If promoting Google Pay externally, refer to the Google Pay Web Brand Guidelines and API Terms of Service.

If Google Pay fails, the donor’s account may be missing:

Disable Google Pay:
Access the Finance > Payments tab in the Action Page Builder to disable this option.
PayPal
PayPal allows donors to give directly from their PayPal account or using a credit/debit card via PayPal’s platform. It is enabled by default for all Anedot fundraising accounts.
Highlights:

No PayPal account setup required on your end

Funds donated via PayPal appear in your Anedot balance and are transferred as usual
Troubleshooting:
If PayPal fails to load or process:

Ensure all fields on the donation form are filled
-
Try refreshing the page or using another browser
-
Disable popup blockers if the PayPal window doesn’t open
Disable PayPal:
Head to the Finance > Payments tab within the Action Page Builder.
Bitcoin (via OpenNode)
Bitcoin is available by request and is powered by OpenNode. Contact Anedot Support to enable this payment method.
Key Details:

Only available for supporters not logged into DonorID
-
Displayed under Express Checkout when enabled
-
Final payment is processed on OpenNode’s secure platform

Cannot be used for recurring donations
-
Donations are one-time and calculated based on real-time exchange rate
Refunds and Underpayments:

Bitcoin donations cannot be voided or refunded through Anedot. Refunds must be managed manually by the organization.

Underpayments may occur due to fees or miscalculations. In such cases:

The donor may complete the remaining amount via OpenNode
-
Request a refund
-
Anedot may accept the underpaid amount and adjust the donation in your records
