Frustrated by a failed donation? Learn common reasons credit card donations fail on Anedot—like bank authorization issues, unsupported cards, and international restrictions—and how to resolve them.
We understand how frustrating a failed credit card donation can be. Below are common reasons why a credit card might not go through—and what you can do about it.
Common Reasons for Donation Failures
Bank Authorization Failed
Your card issuer may flag a donation as potential fraud, especially if it’s a larger-than-usual amount or doesn’t fit your typical spending pattern.
Solution: Call the number on the back of your card to authorize the transaction.
Card Type Not Supported
Anedot supports most major card brands, including Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, and JCB. In rare cases, a card may not be accepted.
Solution: Try another supported card or contact your card issuer.
Security Alert
Your transaction may be blocked due to a security alert, even if your card is in your possession.
Solution: Call the number on the back of your card to check for and resolve any alerts.
International Donations
Donors outside the U.S. can donate through Anedot, but the receiving organization must enable international giving.
Solution: If you don’t see the option to donate, contact the organization to confirm they’ve enabled this feature.
