Account Closure
This article outlines how to close your Anedot fundraising account, including the steps for clearing positive or negative balances, refunding donations, and retrieving financial records before finalizing closure.
When your campaign has ended or your organization is no longer accepting donations, Anedot allows you to close your fundraising account. This helps ensure the security of your account and prevents unexpected contributions.
You may request to reactivate your account at any time if fundraising resumes.
Before you request closure:
Your account balance must be settled—either transferred, refunded, or paid in full if negative. Anedot cannot hold any remaining balance on a closed account.
Steps to Prepare Your Account for Closure
Before closing your fundraising account, it’s important to ensure your balance is fully settled and your financial data is saved. The steps below will help guide you based on your account's status:
- You Have Funds Remaining in the Account: If your Anedot account has a positive balance and you'd like to receive those funds:
- Contact our Support team to initiate a final transfer to your connected bank account
- Ensure the bank account on file is still active and able to receive funds
- Export your financial records by navigating to Finance > Transactions
- You Can’t Accept the Remaining Funds: If your organization is unable to receive the remaining funds:
- You can issue refunds to donors from within your account
- Full refunds return the total donation to the donor (processing fees are not refunded), which may result in a negative balance
- Partial refunds may be issued excluding fees—just be sure to confirm with the donor before proceeding
- Partial refunds are final—no additional refunds can be issued for that transaction later. If needed, remaining amounts must be refunded manually (e.g., by check).
- Once all applicable refunds are issued and your balance is $0, contact Support to proceed with closure
- Be sure to download your transaction data before submitting the request
- You can issue refunds to donors from within your account
- Your Account Has a Negative Balance: If your account is overdrawn:
- Reach out to our Support team to coordinate repayment
- If your connected bank account is still active, we’ll debit the necessary amount directly
- If the account is closed, you can settle the balance through:
- Electronic Payment: Pay via secure link and notify Support once complete
- Check Payment: Make checks payable to Anedot Inc. and include your organization’s name in the memo.

If your account balance is cleared and your data has been exported:
